The department runs the following programs:

1. B.Sc. (Engineering) in Computer Science & Engineering (4 years program):

Objective of B.Sc. in CSE program:

The objective of the Bachelor of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Program is to produce world-class professionals in the field. The program covers a comprehensive curriculum following standard international guidelines. The program has been designed so as to achieve the perfect blend of theory and practice in order to provide a path for students to steadily increase their engineering knowledge and skills. It is expected that with this program the students will get adequate training in a wide variety of environments (including windows NT and Unix) and in an equally wide variety of hardware platforms Students will gain knowledge in software development. Internet programming Network engineering Computer architecture, microprocessor VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) Software and hardware engineering to equip themselves appropriately to face the challenges of the emerging computer industry in the 21st century Besides, following the recent trends in advanced universities in the developed world, the CSE curriculum includes some selected interdisciplinary subjects . These subjects form a general body of knowledge along with the major area of concentration in order to prepare the students to adjust to the reality of contemporary world facing multidimensional problems and issues

2. M.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering (One year program)

Objective of M.Sc. in CSE program:

The Program emphasizes the theory and applications of both hardware and software and permits concentrations of study in specific areas of computer science. The Program is offered in the late afternoon and evening to serve the educational needs of practicing computer professionals.

Grading System & Performance Evaluation

(Both for B.Sc. (Eng.) in CSE & M.Sc. in CSE)

Students having minimum 75% class attendance will be eligible to take semester examinations. Letter grading will be made to asscs student’s performance. The grade will be assigned on the overall evaluation of student’s performance in semester written test, tutorial, or terms papers, or assignment & class attendance. Grades / GPA will be determined by the teachers responsible for the course. The final result will be the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) over the courses. The Letter grade corresponding to numerical grade point will be as follows:

There will be three semesters in an academic year (Fall-September to December, Winter-January to April, & Summer-May to August).

Every course work includes 100 marks. 10% marks for tutorial & assignment, 75% marks for written test & 5% marks for class attendance to be converted into letter grade. Viva-voice 10%, to be taken at the end of the semester.

Subjects in which the student gets `F’ grade shall not be counted towards credit hour requirement and for the Calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA). For Promotion to the next semester students must get qualifying marks at least in 2/3 courses & they must clear the failing courses during the end of the next semester.
